Harrington praises Europeans

Posted on by godadnet

Padraig HarringtonPadraig Harrington believes that the Europeans (4/6 to win the 2010 Ryder Cup) are in good form as they look towards the Ryder Cup.

European players are looking to make it four straight wins on the American circuit with Justin Rose, Lee Westwood and Graeme McDowell all notching up victories.

British players Ian Poulter and Rory McIlory also won tournaments on American soil and Harrington believes the Europeans have a good chance of winning the Ryder Cup.

He said: “The Europeans are strong. I just dropped out of the automatic qualification, so I have to work hard to get on the team, which means there’s plenty of competition, there’s plenty of guys there.

“It’s not an easy team to qualify for, which is always a good sign that you’ve got a strong team,” he said.

Harrington (16/1 to win the 2010 Open Championship) currently shares the lead in the Travelers Championship in Connecticut and will be looking to add his name to the list of successful Europeans winning in the US this year.

Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie will be looking to regain the Ryder Cup trophy when they take on the Americans at Celtic Manor on October 1.
