PA 9054381 Dustin Johnson 300x195 Johnson happy to be in frontDustin Johnson (Evens favourite in the outright betting) fired a superb 66 to move to six-under-par and take a three-shot lead going into the final round of the US Open, and insists that he will adopt the same approach on Sunday.

The big-hitting American eagled the fourth to get his third round going and birdied the sixth and seventh to move into the outright lead, before recovering from a bogey at nine with another birdie at the 11th.

Johnson finished his round strongly with further birdies at the 17th and 18th to close the day three shots clear of halfway leader Graeme McDowell (9/2 in the outright betting), who closed with successive bogeys to finish at -3.

Johnson, who has won the last two PGA Tour events at Pebble Beach, admits he is enjoying playing at the course and will not allow the pressure of being in front alter his game plan.

“I love playing here,” said Johnson. “Today was a good day.

“I had a couple of loose drives on the back, but I held it together pretty good and made a few good putts coming down the stretch.

“Nothing is going to change with the game plan tomorrow.”

World number one Tiger Woods (11/4 in the outright betting) has given himself a chance of lifting his 15th major title after a third-round 66 saw him move to one-under, five shots off the lead, and one clear of France’s Gregory Havret (40/1).

Two-time winner Ernie Els (16/1) and Masters champion Phil Mickelson (12/1) were not at their fluent best but managed to keep themselves in contention at one-over.
