The Open champion missed the cut by five shots at Augusta, following two rounds of 76, but the 36-year-old is eyeing success on a completely opposite style of course.

Cink was a winner at the Harbour Town Golf Links in 2000 and 2004 and has described this week’s tournament as “unique and special”.

The six-time winner of on the US Tour said: “It’s like the anti-Augusta – flat, everything is very small and closed in, whereas Augusta is so large and rolling hills. Everything here is the opposite.”

There will a pretty strong field for the Verizon Heritage, with world number six Jim Furyk, world number seven Paul Casey (5/2f to be top European) and Colombian Camilo Villegas among those in action, although Ian Poulter has withdrawn.
