The Irish golfer hit a six-under-par 65 in his second round at Palm Harbor to take a one shot lead at eight-under over the foursome of Carl Petterson,  Jim Furyk, Bubba Watson and Retief Goosen (5/1 to win on coupon).

Harrington missed out on an even better score as he bogeyed his third-last hole, but still got seven birdies during the round as he looks for his first Tour win in two years.

“I’m capable of winning in the form I’m in. Am I in my best form? No. Am I getting there? Yes,” said Harrington.

“You put yourself out there. That tests where your game is at. Some weeks the results happen and you get a win and some weeks they won’t.”

The English pair of Ross Fisher and Luke Donald (Fisher 28/1. Donald 50/1 to win on tournament coupon) are still in contention as they are four-under and three-under respectively after hitting third round scores of 70 and 68.
